The Knowledge Network is looking for short films about Nelson and the Kootenays, so they’re awarding $30,000 to filmmakers who pitch the best stories. The network is looking for a series of short (2-3 minutes in length) historical documentaries to be created from still photographs – archival, historical and even personal photos – centred around the Kootenays region. Apply online with your name, resume, story concept, and links to your existing work – by April 26, 2013. The Visual Effects Society Vancouver Section along with the Vancouver Economic Commission and the HR Screen Council Board are pleased to announce the date for the 2nd Annual VES Vancouver Career Fair at the Vancouver Convention Centre West Building. The Career Fair doors will be open from 11:00am through 4:00pm on Saturday, April 20th, with students welcome to attend after 2:00pm. Last year the VES Vancouver Job Fair hosted 1200 attendees and 20 exhibitors. This year the space has been expanded to accommodate over 30 exhibitors. Wiggles 3D Games has announced the launch of their new mobile game, Lexigo for iOS devices. Based on the studio’s tabletop game Lexigo, the Lexigo app is built for 2 to 4 players, combining spelling challenges with strategy. Players use six-sided tiles to spell words in a twisty path, enabling the ability to move in six different directions – you can even backtrack to use letters more than once in the same word.
