Just a week into their Kickstarter campaign for The Long Dark, and Hinterland Games has already amassed the support of 2,500 backers who have generously pledged more than $70,000 towards development of the simulation survivalist project. The developers are very pleased to announced that one of our personal favourite Canadian actors will be joining Mark Meer (who is also a personal favourite) on the cast of The Long Dark. This morning we were very pleased to discover that Elias Toufexis will be lending his talent to one of the characters, even though Hinterland is not yet revealing which character. Vancouver Island indie game developer Paper Machete Games, creators of the real time strategy (RTS) game Attack of the Gelatinous Blob, has revealed what modding capabilities will be available for the real time strategy game. The Honourable Peter MacKay, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced that the Government of Canada is issuing a call for proposals under the Youth Justice Fund, with up to $390,000 available to support provinces and territories in addressing cyberbullying among youth. MEG: RVO from independent Vancouver developer Skunkwerks Kinetic is a top-down, online multiplayer game for the iPad 3 (retina display) and up. It combines action and strategy in a video game universe where Slate Kinetic, a sinister corporate entity, is training remote vehicle operators to explore alternate worlds. The studio’s first production and KickStarter project, MEG:RVO is coming to you from the founders of Skunkwerks Software and its newly formed creative team. The company is made up of diverse professional backgrounds and different levels of experience, and from modellers to programmers to writers, everyone on the team has a say in the final product. Funcom‘s The Secret World is offering its players a new chain of events called The Whispering Tide. In these events the whole community joins together to fight the Filth invasion in the hollow earth – Agartha. Telefilm Canada has announced its support for the production of nine English- and French-language feature films from Quebec, Ontario, Nunavut and Western Canada through the Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF).
