Montreal indie studio Spearhead Games has announced that the studio will demo Project Cyber and host its first tournament at the Unreal Engine Epic Booth #1147 at PAX East. Project Cyber is a physics-based competitive game where champions compete in 3-vs-3 soccer-inspired battles in a cyberpunk world. Spearhead has opened up the entire development process to the community, and more than 50,000 players have already requested Steam keys to share their feedback and see the game progress. Steven Universe premieres on Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT in TELETOON Canada’s flagship Can’t Miss Thursdays programming block. The new series is created by Emmy® and Annie Award-nominated writer and storyboard artist Rebecca Sugar (Adventure Time). It appears that we can officially look forward to welcoming the cast and crew of A&E Network‘s hit drama series Bates Motel back to the neighbourhood this Fall, as the show has been officially renewed for Season Three. Season two premiered on March 3rd with 4.6 million total viewers and delivered 2.6 million adults 18-49 and 2.2 million adults 25-54 (based on Live+7 viewing). A year ago HootSuite showed just how much the company’s employees love Game of Thrones with their Social Media Winter is Coming infographic (see below). The infographic was a visual representation of the quiet battles being fought between many social networks, who were building walls and blocking access between their respective sites and apps. In a presentation held at OpenText, Industry Minister James Moore has unveiled Digital Canada 150, an ambitious path forward for Canadians to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age. Digital Canada 150 encompasses 39 new initiatives that build on the Canadian government’s successful measures for a more connected Canada. It is based on 250 submissions that were received from more than 2,000 Canadians who registered to participate in online consultations held over three months in 2010. Hopefully it carries more weight and substance than the promise that the Conservatives would support the CBC by “maintaining or increasing” the network’s budget. Which it didn’t. Which meant the cancellation of shows we don’t want cancelled. But that’s another argument. In fact this announcement in and of itself raises new arguments.
