Game Connection has unveiled the list of yet unsigned game projects nominated for the prestigious American Selected Projects 2014. Competition was fierce this year with more than 200 submitted projects. On the morning of 17th March at the Selected Projects Awards Ceremony, each of the 15 nominees will have 5 minutes to pitch their project in front of all publishers, distributors and buyers at Game Connection America. The jury will then award 2014’s “Overall Best Project” from amongst the hugely impressive and varied, international array of entries – based on presentation quality, project innovation and market potential. The accolade of “Overall Best Project” is sponsored by Namco Bandai Games, while Microsoft Studios supports the “Best Console & PC Hardcore” Category. In addition, this year Develop has been announced as the official media partner of the initiative, giving even more visibility to nominees and winners. Telefilm Canada, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, in collaboration with Bell Media and the Toronto International Film Festival, will co-host a tribute celebrating Canadian excellence in the film and television industries. The event will take place in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 27th at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. The invitees include Canadian Academy Awards nominees, select Canadian Screen Awards nominees, and other high-profile Canadian talent. Bell Media has announced that applications are now being accepted for this year’s Bell Media National Fellowship Program. Telefilm Canada wishes to inform its clients that applications for funding to the Canada Feature Film Fund for lower-budget projects (projects with budgets of less than $2.5 million) will be accepted as of the following dates for English- and French-language markets. Please note that these dates are not “deadlines;” they are opening dates. Telefilm will continue to accept applications for lower-budget projects after these dates until the closing date. The recipients of the 2013/14 Interactive Fund and Arts Innovation Fund were announced yesterday by Creative BC.
