Microsoft has announced that the free Xbox Live Games with Gold offerings for January include the Vancouver-developed action title Sleeping Dogs from United Front Games. Starting January 1st, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to download Sleeping Dogs, an exciting open-world action game set in Hong Kong. Vancouver studio Neon Astronauts Creative, the developer of Pick A Hand, is celebrating the release of its newest title, Water Slide Clyde And The Epic Glide, available now on iTunes for $0.99 USD. In the Tiny Wings, “dive n fly” genre, the developers have delivered a faster pace of play, a weightier feel, more freedom (fall/slide backwards), and slides/tracks crafted for racing. Each slide has multiple racing lines that can lead players to a secret world, rip them to the end of the level at top speed, or reward them with the soul satisfying glide of a true soul slider. Funcom‘s The Secret World gives its players an unique challenge this year with brand new monsters to fight and a dangerous place of ice to explore.  The Krampus roams the land in search of naughty children to punish. But the players have the chance to turn the tables on this wicked creature. Those who are clever can follow the Krampus to its home in Niflheim.  In this brutal land of frost and ice the players can not only battle legions of Krampus, but also uncover a secret ritual to summon Hel herself and do battle against this god-like being. There were some announcements in today’s Nintendo Direct that made me smile – two of my favourite characters are coming to the Wii U. I am very much looking forward to Donkey Kong’s new title, Tropical Freeze, as well as Yoshi’s New Island. Plus – one of Nintendo’s popular characters from the recently released Super Mario 3D World game is coming to two of its biggest titles of 2014 for Wii U. Rosalina will be playable in both Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. Nintendo also launched NES Remix in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U, re-imagining parts of 16 classic NES games. Bot Colony, the first game to use conversational English as the primary way to interact with characters, was launched today by Montreal game developer North Side Inc. An Open Alpha version is publicly available and can be downloaded from the Bot Colony site for $2.95. Bot Colony leverages a technological breakthrough in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), a problem scientists have been trying to solve for many years. Natural Language Understanding (NLU) is technical jargon for computer understanding of human language (English in the case of Bot Colony). The characters in Bot Colony understand what the player says, and are often able to respond in a cogent manner. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released the all-new “Hunter, Hunted” multiplayer mode available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, which players can access by jumping into the Batman: Arkham Origins online multiplayer mode. The “Hunter, Hunted” multiplayer mode brings the excitement of “Last Man Standing” to Batman: Arkham Origins.  The new 3v3v1 mode pits three Bane thugs, three Joker thugs, and Batman against each other to be the last team standing. Capcom Vancouver has unveiled Operation Eagle, the first “Dead Rising 3” DLC installment to the Untold Stories of Los Perdidos. This episode puts you in control of Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane on a mission that challenges everything he believes and sets him out to capture the missing President of the United States.
