I freely admit that I have never played a Professor Layton title, outside of preview events held at Nintendo Canada. How ironic that the first title that I played from this popular franchise is apparently its last, and the third part of a prequel trilogy. While this may cause me to lose some of the benefits of knowing how the puzzle system has kept players engaged over the years, or how the story got to the point where it is now, it did not stop me from enjoying the game, its story or the 100+ puzzles awaiting solution. The back story is easily picked up, but I do caution that Azran Legacy is reading-intensive, so I would not recommend this title for younger children, unless they have a very good command of the written word and a penchant for solving puzzles. It’s time for Guacamelee! fans to return to fighting form as DrinkBox Studios has announced that it will bring its award-winning action-platformer to the PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the Wii U™. Ubisoft has just announced that the long-awaited Watch_Dogs will be available worldwide on May 27, 2014 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Wii U version will be available at a later date – of course it will, because this is the version I pre-ordered.  In the meantime, you are invited to check out the all-new Story Trailer and get a deeper look into what drives Aiden Pearce.  Remember, there are some things you can’t walk away from. Ubisoft® has released a co-op trailer for Child of Light™, which launches on April 30, 2014.  The turn-based RPG set in the magical world of Lemuria will be available for download for $14.99 on Microsoft Xbox LIVE for the Xbox® 360 and Xbox® One, the Sony PlayStation Network for the PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4, the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U, and Steam for PC and is rated Everyone 10+. Spearhead Games, the Montreal-based indie developer who brought co-op gamers the quirky puzzler Tiny Brains, has revealed the studio’s next project: a competitive physics-based video game for PC and consoles. Expanding the studio’s “always playtesting” philosophy, Spearhead Games will open the entire development process up to the community for feedback through the studio’s weekly Twitch shows airing Thursdays at 7 p.m. Eastern. To make the new project even more of a challenge, the slightly masochistic but mostly lovable co-founders, Malik Boukhira, Simon Darveau and Atul Mehra, have decided to build the game in three months. Following the recent opening of the Barrick Gold Corporation Gallery at the Royal Ontario Museum, the ROMining Game App is now live.  The gallery, located in the ROM’s Teck Suite of Galleries: Earth’s Treasures (Level 2), is an interactive 600 square foot space, with multi-touch, animated displays, multi-media presentations and more.  At the heart of this new gallery is the Challenge of Mining game. Featuring a multi-touch table, the game can be played by up to eight players in the Museum and another four mobile players, by downloading the newly available ROMining Game App. An inter-generational experience, the game requires players to choose a specific character, representative of a mining stakeholder (miner, local community member among them) and, working together, players are challenged to “manage” a successful, ethical, and productive mining operation. Interactive Entertainment, The LEGO Group and WB Games Montréal have announced the launch of LEGO® Legends of CHIMA™ Online on iTunes for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices, playable with a WiFi connection.  LEGO Legends of CHIMA Online, already available for Windows PC and Mac, is an immersive and interactive free to play online game that extends and complements the popular LEGO Legends of CHIMA universe of products, including construction sets, vehicles, TV shows and more!  The online game officially moved out of Beta last month with game enhancements and new features including parent accounts and chat, and this enhanced experience is now available for download on the App Store. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today unveiled the first details for Cold, Cold Heart; the action-packed story add-on for Batman: Arkham Origins. In this extensive story add-on, players will unearth the tragic origin story of Mr.Freeze and learn how he earned his role as one of Batman’s arch nemeses. Cold, Cold Heart will be available for purchase on the PlayStation®Network, Xbox LIVE and Steam beginning April 22. This add-on pack will be available to players who have purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass and are connected to the Internet, or it can be purchased separately.
