Telefilm Canada wishes to inform all interested applicants to the Development Program that the updated guidelines and FAQs are now available on its website. Modifications to this year’s program were kept to a minimum, but with ongoing budget restrictions, demands will certainly exceed available dollars. Closing will be set for October 30th, 2014 – six months after April’s opening date – or until funds run out. Telefilm will update its website when funds are exhausted. Please visit the program page regularly and subscribe to their RSS feeds. Interested applicants will have the opportunity to submit their projects as of April 30th, 2014 for both French and English markets.

In a presentation held at OpenText, Industry Minister James Moore has unveiled Digital Canada 150, an ambitious path forward for Canadians to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age. Digital Canada 150 encompasses 39 new initiatives that build on the Canadian government’s successful measures for a more connected Canada. It is based on 250 submissions that were received from more than 2,000 Canadians who registered to participate in online consultations held over three months in 2010. Which meant the cancellation of shows we don’t want cancelled. But that’s another argument. In fact this announcement in and of itself raises new arguments. I feel a rant an editorial fighting to get out. Read the rest of this entry »
