Fifteen open, online textbooks in subject areas ranging from math and chemistry to marketing, psychology, and business have been reviewed by post-secondary faculty and are now freely available for download from BCcampus. More than 38 instructors and professors from post-secondary institutions around the province reviewed existing open textbooks for quality and relevance in British Columbia. As announced on August 6, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) will embark on a cross-country consultation this fall as part of a comprehensive consultation process. The consultation includes focus groups in 18 cities, in all provinces and territories. The following calendar was updated to reflect times and locations for each focus group. Economic development executives representing these regions as the Ontario Technology Corridor, together with provincial representatives federal government support, are attending gamescom 2013. Drivers in Metro Vancouver have a new, real-time traffic map to plan smarter and more efficient journeys. The traffic map is free to use and accessible online at the Drive BC and Translink web sites. The map colour-codes major highways and roads in the Metro Vancouver region according to traffic speeds. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has announced today that it is migrating its application process for its programs to the online service eTelefilm as of Monday, September 30th 2013. As of this date, the CMF will no longer accept hardcopy (paper) applications. This change applies only to applicants who have not already submitted applications through eTelefilm up until now. eTelefim is a simple and secure website that provides applicants with updated information about the status of their application and is available seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 12 a.m. ET. The BC provincial government is opening the lines of communication so British Columbians can speak up about the future of digital services and the tools that deliver them, including the BC Services Card. This fall, government will undertake a provincewide citizen consultation process to gain a better understanding of British Columbians’ priorities, expectations and vision for the future delivery of government services digitally, with a specific focus on how the BC Services Card may be used as a key tool to enable this vision.
