Tasha Zimich, a student graduating Simon Fraser University’s School for Contemporary Arts Visual Art Program, took on a long-time dream of illustrating and self-producing her own graphic arts books. Thanks to Crowdsourced Funding Tasha achieved and exceeded her $1600.00 funding goal.

I was watching one of the Titanic shows on National Geographic channel last evening and found out about the Fisheries and Marine Institute’s Centre for Marine Simulation, which is located in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The simulator was used to run some simulations in regards to the Titanic’s collision with the iceberg. Already being familiar with the number flight simulation developers we have in Canada, I wasn’t really surprised to find that we also have a pretty incredible marine simulator as well.
Interactive Ontario has announced that Jesse Schell, CEO, Schell Games and faculty member at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, will be a Keynote speaker at INplay 2012. A much sought after speaker, his past lectures at events such as TED and the DICE Summit have been raved about and in 2004 he was named one of the world’s Top 100 Young Innovators by MIT’s Technology Review. According to Health Canada, one in five Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime and virtually all of us will know someone who is or will be affected by mental illness. TVO, in association with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), announces Mental Health Matters May 7 to 13, which will utilize TVO’s full media toolkit to inform and engage Ontarians in issues of mental health and addiction. Mental Health Matters will feature current affairs, lectures, documentaries and dramas, as well as extensive online resources and special in-the-community broadcast events to encourage informed discourse on an issue that affects us all. The Governments of Canada and Ontario, with IBM and a consortium of seven universities led by the University of Toronto and Western University today announced they are collaborating to establish a new Ontario-based $210 million dollar research and development initiative that will create 145 new highly skilled jobs in Ontario and a new economic cornerstone for the country. Online family history resource Ancestry.com (Ancestry.ca) has announced that it will mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic by releasing the most comprehensive online collection of records relating to the passengers and crew aboard the legendary luxury liner.
