The Fonds de solidarité FTQ has announced an $8 million investment in Vancouver’s 7GEntertainment which will be used to launch online video game publishing and hosting services. Roughly 100 jobs will be created over the next two years as a result of this investment. The announcement was made today by Fonds president and CEO Yvon Bolduc during a speech at the Canadian Club of Montreal. TELETOON Canada adds some colour to those winter blahs this season by announcing a Winter-Spring lineup made to brighten spirits and bring on the laughs this January 2012. Joining the roster is the animated/live-action series Mudpit which shows the trials and tribulations of four teen musicians hoping to make it big in a cyber battle-of-the-bands called Muzika. My Babysitter’s a Vampire, The Series, inspired by the cult-favourite My Babysitter’s a Vampire movie, this homegrown TELETOON original production brings season one of the much-anticipated series. Interactive entertainment publisher Square Enix, Inc. and Ubisoft have officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be lending one of its costume designs to Final Fantasy XIII-2. Ten of Ontario’s leading screen-based producers have just returned from an inaugural ten-day Mission to India led by the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) in partnership with Telefilm Canada. The trade mission took delegates to Mumbai and Goa, including visits to the National Film Development Corporation’s (NFDC) Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), providing the delegates with an opportunity to forge new relationships between Ontario and Indian filmmakers and build the foundation for future collaboration between the two jurisdictions. The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus has awarded its second Local Access Contract that will allow nearly 80,000 homes and businesses to connect wirelessly to high-speed Internet across a region that includes all of Prince Edward County, most of the southern half of Hastings and Lennox and Addington Counties and a westerly portion of Frontenac County.
