British Columbia is expanding the Digital Animation or Visual Effects tax credit to post-production activities, and extending the Interactive Digital Media tax credit to 2018, Minister of Finance Michael de Jong announced today with the introduction of Balanced Budget 2015. As promised, the Digital Animation or Visual Effects (DAVE) tax credit will apply to labour expenditures on eligible post-production activities for productions where principal photography begins on or after March 1, 2015. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today a contribution of more than $8.0M in development and marketing support to innovative digital media projects as part of the second round of its 2014-2015 Experimental Stream funding. In December 2014, the CMF announced a contribution of more than $11.0M to 24 projects that received production support. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced yesterday that 24 interactive digital media projects received a total of $11.8M in funding as part of the second round of production support from the Experimental Stream for 2014-2015. The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of innovative, interactive digital media content and software applications. The 24 companies are located in various regions of the country; one in Alberta, two in British Columbia, one in New Brunswick, one in Newfoundland and Labrador, one in Nova Scotia, eight in Ontario, and ten in Québec.
