Ontario law firm Harrison Pensa LLP has announced that a settlement has been reached and approved by the Court whereby NVIDIA Corporation has agreed to pay CAD $1,900,000.00 in exchange for a full release of claims brought on behalf of Canadians who purchased a computer for use and not for resale equipped with a defective NVIDIA graphics card known as either a Graphics Processing Unit or a Media Communications Chip (“GPUs”). Consumers are eligible for compensation if they purchased certain laptop computers for use and not for resale made by Apple, Compaq, Dell, HP, or Sony that contain a defective GPU made by NVIDIA (the “Affected Computers”). Rock Hippo Productions Ltd. has teamed up with Sharknife creator Corey Lewis to lift his epic battles out of the comic book pages and into the video game world of MicroVolts Surge! Just in time for Halloween, players can get the new game update now free to download. The war between action figures over battery resources surges on at the Microvolts site. New York’s Cieri Media is launching a new festival aimed at showcasing the geekiest shorts they can find. The Ge/Ne/rk Fest NYC, which stands for Geek/Nerd/Dork Festival, is looking for submissions – I couldn’t find anything on their site that says “USA-made films only” so I am going on the presumption that it’s open to global submissions. The festival will accept submissions of short films, up to approximately 25 minutes in length, in the categories of Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror/Thriller, Fantasy, and Animation/Anime.
