New from Vancouver studio Switch United is an interactive companion feature for Paperny Entertainment‘s Cold Water Cowboys, returning to Discovery for Season 2 on March 10th. Atlantic Empire is an immersive multiplayer HTML5 gaming experience that captures the essence of a high-stakes Newfoundland fishing adventure with a combination of both strategy and skill-based gameplay, including in-depth information about show characters and locations. Using map-based gameplay, players customize their harbours and their fishing operations, reaping as much crab, herring and mackerel as they can in order to build their fishing dynasty. During a Nintendo Direct presentation earlier today, Nintendo announced that the new Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch in Canada on February 13 at a suggested retail price of $229.99. New Nintendo 3DS XL offers a number of new enhancements designed to offer the smoothest and most engrossing portable gaming possible. New Nintendo 3DS XL features a wider range of controls with the addition of a C Stick and ZL/ZR buttons, super-stable 3D via face-tracking technology and built-in NFC functionality that allows for communication with amiibo figures. Nintendo has prepared a massive lineup of new games and products for the 2014 holiday season. The lineup includes new entries from some of the biggest franchises in gaming, new hardware bundles for Wii U and Nintendo 2DS, and new amiibo interactive figures featuring some of the most iconic characters in the world of video games. The holiday shopping season begins soon for Nintendo fans, as the first 12 amiibo interactive figures become available for pre-order at a suggested retail price of just $13.99 each. The first dozen characters available for pre-order at select retailers are Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, with more on the way in the future. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group have announced the launch of LEGO® Friends for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch available for download on the App Store.  Based on the popular LEGO Friends collection of building sets, the LEGO Friends App lets players create their own summer adventure in Heartlake City alongside LEGO Friends Olivia, Mia, Stephanie, Emma and Andrea. It has been revealed in a late night note from Hinterland Games that the team has derived so much useful feedback from The Long Dark‘s early Alpha playtesting, that they want to open up the Sandbox to a much wider audience, and to that end a decision was made to bring the Sandbox Alpha to Steam Early Access in September 2014. Bot Colony, the first game to use conversational English as the primary way to interact with characters, launches on Steam’s Early Access today together with a free browser-based mini-game, 20 Questions with Jimmy, playable now on the Bot Colony website. Montreal R&D company North Side Inc. is thrilled to premiere on Steam in Early Access with Bot Colony’s Season 1: Landfall.
